Due to the pandemic, the education field has undergone significant changes: teachers simultaneously interact with the audience both offline and online. How to work effectively and harmoniously in such conditions? It would seem that until recently we had the answer: “hybrid format.” But a new trend in training is HyFlex.
On April 5, a webinar was held with Elna Coetzer, a recognized education expert who works with the International Institute of Education, Oxford University, and other educational organizations.
So what is HyFlex? As the name implies, it is a combination of the terms “hybrid” and “flexibility.”
“Hybrid” learning means learning that integrates additional experience of personal and online learning. All participants in the hybrid format will have equivalent tasks both online and offline.
In contrast, the “flexible” aspect of HyFlex is that students are given a choice of how they interact with the course materials, choosing the format they like best.
The four core values of HyFlex:
- Listener's choice. Courses that allow students to choose the way of participation that is best for them.
- Accessibility. Students have access to all technological resources and skills for equal access to all modes of participation.
- Reusability. Materials and elements of educational activities in each format are recorded and can be reused in other formats.
- Equivalence. All participants are expected to reflect, contribute to the development of ideas and interact in the learning process.
